Apple has been rolling out beta updates for iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 since the company’s WWDC event in June, each improving features and stability. Apple has released the fourth beta of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 to developers this week with new features. However, Apple has just released a new iteration of this beta 4 build with several key changes.
The New Beta Versions of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18
This revamped set of beta versions – which can be installed on compatible iPhones and iPads through the normal Software Update mechanism offers a build number change from 22A5316j to 22A5316k. This latest build can be downloaded and installed by registered developers using the Settings app on their devices.
If you have a developer account, sign in with your Apple ID and accept the requirement to link it to your Developer Account. Once linked, when available the update will show up in your Settings app under General > Software Update > Beta Updates. Tap the update and then follow the on-screen instructions to begin downloading/installing it.
In iOS 18, a major new feature is the reworked Home Screen layout that lets you stick apps anywhere on your interface. The new Control Center has a refreshed design with pages that have been added to help users better organize its controls. The latest beta releases include those changes and they can now be tested.
No specific explanation is given for re-releasing the fourth beta per se, but it possibly contains bug fixes or other changes that Steel will require to continue working with. The revised build is anticipated to have no effect on the timeframe for the fifth beta of iOS 18, which remains scheduled. As always, developers and other testers are also advised to keep an eye out for additional changes in iOS 18 beta versions as these builds evolve during the development cycle.
This latest beta is an opportunity to enjoy these new features and improvements first-hand. There are many enhancements with each release and Apple is proud of itself in providing the most stable feature full final version.
