Apple might launch the Beats Studio Buds wireless earbuds soon

Apple’s AirPods have more or less looked the same over the years, with a stem hanging off the earbuds. Many brands copied Apple’s unique design over time, but it looks like the firm is finally ditching it for a stemless look, at least for its new wire-free Beats earbuds.

MacRumors contributor Steve Moser found images of the new true-wireless Beats buds floating around in the tvOS 14.6 and iOS 14.6 betas. Called the Beats Studio Buds, the earphones are unlike any previous model from the Apple-owned brand. They don’t have any ear wraps like the Powerbeats Pro. Instead, they are tiny and feature an in-ear design similar to Google’s Pixel Buds.

MacRumors‘s Steve Moser posted a few system animations on a Twitter thread, showcasing the new earbuds from several angles.

The leaked images reveal that Apple’s Beats Studio Buds will be available in red, black, and white colorways. They’ll also come with an oval-shaped charging case. The buds combine the curves of the AirPods Pro with a geometric design reminiscent of Sony’s earbuds. The case also appears much more rounded than Apple’s usual design.

The earbuds, as well as the oval-shaped charging case, will be available in multiple colors, including, but not necessarily limited to, red, white, and black. As for internal specifications, we’re not exactly sure, but we’re expecting them to come with landmark Apple features such as active noise cancellation, custom Apple silicon, and maybe other features such as Spatial Audio.

According to 9to5Google, the Beats Studio Buds will feature an Apple chip to offer instant pairing and the “Hey, Siri” function. The code found in Apple’s beta software also reveals that the earbuds will bring noise cancellation on board.

We’re not sure when these new earbuds might come to market, but we could see them debut shortly after Apple rolls out iOS 14.6 to stable users as that’s the update that’s adding support for these earbuds.
