Apple Just Made Your Playlist Pricier: Music & One Costs Jump In India

Just when you’d settled into your Apple subscriptions, the price tags shifted again. Days after hiking AppleCare+ costs for Mac and iPad, Apple has now raised prices for Apple Music and Apple One in India — and the increases are already live on Apple’s website.

The reason cited? Rising music licensing costs, according to the company.

Apple’s New Pricing At A Glance

PlanOld PriceNew Price
Apple Music Individual₹119/month₹139/month
Apple Music Family₹179/month₹229/month
Apple Music Student₹59/month₹69/month
Apple One Individual₹175/month₹195/month
Apple One Family₹235/month₹295/month
Apple One Premier₹899/month₹995/month

What You’re Actually Paying For

The Apple Music Individual plan gets you access to over 100 million songs, ad-free listening, offline downloads, Spatial and Lossless Audio, expert-curated playlists, and Apple Music Classical — now running you ₹139 a month across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android, Windows, and select smart TVs.

The Family plan carries everything the Individual tier offers but extends access to up to six people through Family Sharing, now priced at ₹229/month — the steepest jump of the three, up ₹50 from before.

The Student plan remains the most budget-friendly option at ₹69/month, and still throws in Apple TV+ at no extra cost for verified university students.

Apple One Isn’t Spared Either

Apple One bundles Apple Music with services like Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, iCloud+, Apple Fitness+, and Apple News+ (availability varies by region). All three tiers saw increases: Individual climbs to ₹195, Family jumps to ₹295, and Premier — Apple’s all-inclusive top tier — now costs ₹995 a month, up ₹96.

No new features accompany any of these hikes. It’s simply a straight price increase across the board.

Not Just An India Problem

This isn’t a India-specific adjustment — Apple has rolled out similar price hikes in the United States, the United Kingdom, and across Europe. It’s also part of a broader industry pattern: Spotify raised its own Individual and Family plan prices earlier this year in several markets, reflecting rising costs across the music streaming industry as a whole, a business model built on licensing deals with rights holders that’s explained in more detail on Wikipedia.

What This Means For You

If you’re an existing subscriber, the new rates apply going forward with no extra features to offset the cost. It might be a good moment to compare what you’re actually using across Apple One’s bundle versus paying for Apple Music on its own, especially if some included services rarely get touched.
