Free food at a langar is one thing. Free iPhones at a langar is an entirely different level of viral stunt — and that’s exactly what social media personality Raja D King is pulling off in Punjab, one unconventional giveaway at a time.

Who Is Raja D King?

Behind the flashy nickname is Rakesh Trehan, an Amritsar-based crypto trader who has been investing in markets since 2010. Trehan has said he inherited wealth from his father, who was in the textile trade, and reportedly uses a portion of his Bitcoin profits to fund community service initiatives across Punjab. What sets him apart isn’t traditional charity — it’s turning the sacred Sikh concept of langar into viral public spectacle.

From Petrol to Cash to iPhones

Trehan’s giveaways have escalated in scale and creativity over recent months:

Initiative	What Was Distributed	Details
Paison Ka Langar	Cash + food	₹500 notes distributed outside a temple, along with McDonald’s burgers and cold drinks
Petrol Langar	Free fuel	₹500 coupons for two/three-wheelers, ₹1000 for four-wheelers at select Chandigarh pumps
iPhone Langar	iPhones (17 and above)	Public draw distributing iPhones to selected recipients

The “Petrol Langar” required nothing more than saying “Jai Mata Di” to qualify for a coupon — a deliberately simple, almost playful eligibility bar that made the event feel accessible rather than exclusive.

The iPhone Langar Plan

Building on the buzz from his earlier giveaways, Trehan has now announced an “iPhone Langar,” where iPhones will be distributed to selected recipients in a fully public event. According to his own statements, the distribution will happen live in front of everyone, with all media invited and the names of recipients drawn openly during the gathering — a format designed to keep the process transparent and, notably, highly shareable on camera.

Selected participants from the region are expected to be part of the draw, continuing the same open, community-style format that made his previous events go viral across social media.

Why This Is Generating So Much Buzz?

Part of what makes Raja D King’s initiatives stand out is the deliberate collision of two very different worlds: the deeply traditional Sikh institution of langar — historically associated with free communal meals served at gurdwaras — and ultra-modern luxury tech like the iPhone. That contrast alone has been enough to spark widespread curiosity and media coverage well beyond Punjab.

Conclusion

The concept Trehan is riffing on has centuries of history behind it. Langar traditionally refers to a free community kitchen associated with Sikh institutions, rooted in the principle of shared meals regardless of social status or background.
