According to a recent rumor, the upcoming AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper 5000 HEDT CPUs codenamed Chagall will be reported not launching this year. The leak came from Greymon55 who tweets that the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 5000 HEDT CPUs which are codenamed Chagall, have been delayed to 2022.

Based on previous rumors the HEDT lineup was planned for launch in Q4 2021, however, so far we have no plans made public by AMD related to Threadripper. This simply means that the user has to wait a little longer to get an update over the AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper 3000 series which was introduced back in November 2019.

For a while, we have been witnessing the information leaks about the AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper 5000 HEDT CPUs like the time we saw Threadripper PRO 5995WX and 5945WX CPUs in benchmarks a while back, and specs of these chips were also reported within the Gigabyte leak a month back.

According to Moore’s Law is Dead, AMD is expected to launch its next-generation Threadripper in both standard and 3DX (3D V-Cache) flavors. And we can also expect AMD to go for the 3DX route for the HEDT CPU lineup like Milan-X chips.

AMD Ryzen Threadripper 5000 vs Intel Sapphire Rapids-X HEDT CPUs:

CPU FamilyIntel Sapphire Rapids-XAMD Ryzen Threadripper 5000

Core ArchitectureGolden CoveZen 3

If AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper 5000 HEDT CPUs will indeed launch in 2022, then its release will come pretty close to Intel’s own Sapphire Rapids HEDT family for the W790 platform. This means that both the companies will yet again go neck-to-neck with each other.
