AMD is planning to revolutionize the next-generation CPUs and is continuing to hold its momentum against its only competitor Intel. While AMD enjoyed a great success last year with the launch of Ryzen 5000 series processor, it has to bet on a stronger future as Intel looks to pounce back.

In the leaked roadmap we got the info of AMD’s Zen 4 based Ryzen 7000 or Raphael CPUs and the rumour said it is all set to feature 5nm based Zen 4 cores and Navi 2 graphics. Now, as we know that AMD has cancelled its plans for Warhol CPUs or AMD Ryzen 6000 series processors with new Zen 3+ cores.

It is now expected that AMD will refresh its Ryzen 5000 series and wait until 2022 to finally deliver Zen 4 based processors as per their roadmap. This is more likely because of the ongoing chip crisis and AMD is already struggling to deliver 7nm based products, so its very unlikely to see Zen 3+.

Instead, AMD could introduce APUs with Zen 3 cores and RDNA 2 graphics or use something they did with the consoles, use Zen 2 cores and graphics engine, pairing with GDDR6 memory.

While the existence of Warhol and Raphael has never been confirmed by AMD directly, however, there has been mention by multiple parties (media and leakers) either directly or through their own contacts. So, what we can do now is just guess by Raphael or Zen 4 is definitely coming sometime next year to challenge Intel.
