AMD Ryzen 7 7745HX “ Dragon Range” appears in benchmark comparison against Intel’s Raptor Lake-HX CPU

Golden Pig Upgrade, a tech content creator, has published the first review of the AMD Ryzen 7 7745HX “Dragon Range” Laptop CPU on Bilibili. The AMD Ryzen 7 7745HX is one of four Dragon Range Laptop CPUs that will be available soon on a variety of high-end laptops.

The CPU has eight cores, sixteen threads, 40 MB of cache, and a clock speed of 3.6 GHz base and 5.1 GHz boost. The CPU has a base TDP of 45W but can be configured to exceed 75W because overclocking is supported on this high-end and enthusiast-grade laptop chip.

The Ryzen 7 7745HX has an 85W base TDP and an upper limit of 125/145W in the Lenovo laptop in which it was featured. The TaU of the CPU is 300. It also has a 140W NVIDIA RTX 4060 Laptop GPU and a pair of DDR5-5200 (8 GB x 2) memory slots.

The AMD Ryzen 7 7745HX CPU was put through various benchmarks by the tech outlet.

The CPU was tested for application performance using Cinebench, SuperPi, y-cruncher, 3DMark CPU Profile, and a variety of other content creation / rendering benchmarks. Overall, the 8-core Dragon Range Laptop CPU performed similarly to Intel’s Core i7-13700Hx and Core i7-13650HX, which have a higher core count of 16 and 14, respectively. The Core i7-13700HX processor.

The gaming performance of the AMD Ryzen 7 7745HX “Dragon Range” 8-Core CPU outperforms both the Core i7-13700HX and the Core i7-13650HX. Several modern titles were tested, and the AMD chip came out on top in the majority of them.

The power consumption chart explains why this is the case. The Intel Raptor Lake-HX CPUs consumed significantly more power than the Dragon Range-HX part, leaving little room for the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 GPU. During gaming, the AMD Dragon Range CPU consumed around 50 Watts, compared to Intel’s 80W. Furthermore, AMD efficiency can be seen within Cinebench under the 80 Watt limit, where it simply destroys the Intel Raptor Lake-HX parts.

The review also demonstrates the overclocking performance of AMD’s Ryzen 7 7745HX “Dragon Range” CPU, which supports PBO and can deliver 3-5% more performance for a slight power penalty.
