AMD Ryzen 5 9600X 6-Core “Zen 5” Desktop CPU Performance Leaks: Clocks Up To 5.5 GHz & 14% Faster Than 7600X

The rumored AMD Ryzen 5 9600X 6-core Zen 5 desktop CPU has leaked and it uses an impressive 5.5 GHz clock speed and offers a 14% performance increase over the 7600X. The Ryzen 5 9600X, whose model number is: 100-000001405 comes with 6 cores and 12 threads offering their base clock at 3.9 GHz and a boost clock of up to 5.4 GHz. Just like with all the other new Zen 5 CPUs it counts with 38 MB of cache and the same 65W TDP. The Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 5 CPUs are the only one with clock speed increases, meanwhile, the Ryzen 9 have the same clock speeds as their predecessors.

More About the AMD Ryzen 5 9600X

Compared to the Ryzen 7 7600X, the Ryzen 5 9600X offers a 100 MHz boost clock improvement but a lower base clock by 800 MHz. In benchmarks, it reached 5.5 GHz, indicating the use of PBO tuning. The Ryzen 5 9600X delivered strong scores when tested on an ASUS ROG Crosshair X670E HERO motherboard with 32 GB of DDR5-6000 memory.

According to the Geekbench 6 database, The Ryzen 5 scored a total of 3284 points in single-core and 14594 points on multi-core tests; this means that there is a performance improvement rate around15%on single-core operations, and it gives us roughly 14%. This single-core score is higher than the Intel Core i9-14900KS in that same benchmark.

For multi-threaded performance, the Ryzen 5 9600X matches closely with the Ryzen 7 7700, a Zen 4 chip with 8 cores and the same 65W TDP. It outperforms the standard Core i5-14600, though the unlocked Core i5-14600K, with a 125W TDP, offers a 9% higher multi-threaded score. Overall, the Ryzen 5 9600X delivers strong performance for a 6-core CPU, particularly in single-core tasks, which is beneficial for gaming. The AMD Ryzen 9000 “Zen 5” Desktop CPUs, including the Ryzen 7 9700X 8-Core, are expected to hit retail shelves later this month on the AM5 platform.
