Forget the forty thieves — this Ali Baba is hunting ghosts instead. JioHotstar’s new horror-comedy Ali Baba Aur 40 Bhoot takes the timeless Arabian Nights legend and flips it completely on its head, and the internet is already hooked weeks before it even streams.
When Does Ali Baba Aur 40 Bhoot Release?
According to Moneycontrol and Jagran’s weekly OTT release roundup, Ali Baba Aur 40 Bhoot premieres on September 11, 2026, exclusively on JioHotstar as part of the platform’s Hotstar Specials lineup. The 40-episode series will roll out with four new episodes releasing every Friday.
What’s the Story About?
The show follows Alisha “Ali” Nigam (Asha Negi), a sharp, science-driven neuropsychology expert searching for her missing father. Her investigation leads her straight to Baba (Vishal Vashishtha), the police officer assigned to her case. What begins as a grounded, logical search quickly spirals into a supernatural mess neither of them saw coming — forty restless spirits, all somehow tied to her father’s disappearance, standing in for the original tale’s forty thieves.
