Akasa Air went viral for its new uniform

Akasa Air, India’s new airline has recently gone viral for its new uniform. It came into the news before taking its first flight takes off. Akasa Air is backed by businessman Rakesh Jhunjhunwala and is all set to start its operations. Recently it revealed its first look of a unique airline crew uniform. The youthful and comfortable outfit reflects the warm, friendly, and happy personality of Akasa Air, and no prizes for guessing that the first look has gone viral.

As we know, everyone who imagines a flight attendant, would always instantly imagine them in their formal uniform. But Akasa Air has brought a revolution by breaking the monotony by introducing athleisure uniforms for its crew. For this reason, it went viral for its new sustainable uniform. The uniforms were designed by keeping in mind the main criteria such as ergonomics, aesthetics, and comfort. The airline crew’s uniform features custom trousers, jackets, and comfortable sneakers.

According to a press release by the airlines, It is said that the uniform is inspired by the company’s core beliefs of employee centricity and sustainability. The official statement reads, “The trouser and jacket fabric has been specially made for Akasa Air, using recycled polyester fabric which is made from pet bottle plastic salvaged from marine waste. The uniform fit focuses on providing the best possible stretch to ensure employees’ comfort over their busy flight schedules.”

Designed by Rajesh Pratap Singh, the jacket draws inspiration from the Indian bandh gala and is forward-looking in a modern version of the garment”. It further said, “Given the mobile lifestyle of crew members and long hours spent standing, Vanilla Moon designed sneakers that are light, and contain extra cushioning from heel to toe to ensure better support. In line with Akasa Air’s approach towards sustainability, the sole of the sneakers is carved from recycled rubber and manufactured without any use of plastic”.

The Co-Founder and Cheif Marketing & Experience Officer of Akasa Airhas described the inspiration behind the uniform. It states, “Employee centricity and sustainability are going to be at the core of everything that we do at Akasa Air. We have designed a uniform in which our team feels both proud and comfortable as they direct their energy to ensure a warm, friendly, and efficient flying experience for all our passengers”.

Rajesh Pratap Singh, who has created uniform for Akasa Air has said that “These uniforms are a perfect amalgamation of style and sustainability and reflect Akasa Air’s core values. From concept to the final outcome, it has been an exciting journey for me to work on these designs and present one of the most unique, sustainable, and functional uniforms of our times”.

According to Deepika Mehra, Founder of Vanilla Moon has shared that design of shoe and shared the view by saying that she is very much delighted to produce sustainably, functional, gender-neutral, and contemporary way. The statement reads, “The design also reflects Akasa Air’s employee-centric culture to ensure their comfort”.

Akasa Air received the delivery of its first Boeing 737 max aircraft in India on 21st June. Now, the airline is gearing up for its commercial launch by the end of July.
