The wait for one of Kollywood’s most anticipated spy sequels is finally over. Sardar 2, starring Karthi in his much-loved double role, now has an official release date — and fans of slow-burn espionage thrillers have reason to mark their calendars.
Mission Confirmed: September 10, 2026
The makers took to social media to make it official, captioning the announcement, “Agent Karthi arrives. Get ready for the mission of a lifetime.” It’s a fitting tagline for a film that picks up the legacy of 2022’s Sardar, which became a sleeper hit thanks to its layered storytelling and Karthi’s dual performance as Chandru and Vincent Pasupathy.
Directed by PS Mithran, Sardar 2 follows Karthi reprising his role as the mysterious Agent Sardar, also known as Chandra Bose, in what promises to be an even bigger, more intense spy saga.

Karthi’s Packed Release Calendar
Sardar 2 isn’t the only big project on Karthi’s plate. He was last seen in Vaa Vaathiyaar, where he played a police officer who channels an MGR-inspired alter ego to fight injustice. Beyond that, he’s also part of the period actioner Marshal, set in the 1960s alongside Kalyani Priyadarshan, and has recently announced a new film tentatively titled Karthi 30 with Meenakshi Chaudhary.
With this packed lineup, Karthi continues to cement himself as one of the most versatile names in Tamil cinema, balancing high-octane action with grounded, character-driven roles.
