A.R. Rahman Debuts Immersive App on Apple Vision Pro

Composer A.R. Rahman, an Academy Award and Grammy winner, is set to launch the ARR Immersive App on Apple Vision Pro. The new visionOS application, available starting July 22 on the Apple App Store for Apple Vision Pro, aims to deliver immersive storytelling and music experiences through spatial computing.

The ARR Immersive app will debut with exclusive content designed for the platform. This includes three Kathak dance performances set to Western classical compositions: “Clair de Lune,” “Rachmaninoff,” and “Fur Elise.” These pieces, performed by Pranith AP, Palak Chauhan, and Mudra IV, with choreography by Shrita Baskar, integrate Indian classical dance with recognizable Western classical music.

Further content includes re-edited segments from Le Musk, Rahman’s 360° VR film that premiered at the Cannes XR Festival. These sections have been adapted for Vision Pro’s centered viewing experience. New spatial audio mixes, created using Apple’s proprietary ASAF (Apple Spatial Audio Format) for three-dimensional audio presence, are also integrated. The app features an “ARR Live” section dedicated to Rahman’s concert performances and recorded live events, with additional content scheduled for future releases.

A.R. Rahman stated that his engagement with immersive storytelling began over a decade ago, exploring narrative through 3D, 360° VR, and spatial experiences. He emphasized that the ARR Immersive App was developed with the intention for technology to deepen emotional connection rather than replace it.

The ARR Immersive App will initially be available on the Apple App Store for Apple Vision Pro, with plans for a subsequent release on Meta Quest platforms.
