Netflix has renewed A Different World Season 2, confirming the Hillman College comedy’s return just eight days after its first season debuted on the platform. The streamer announced the renewal on 2 October 2026.

A Quick Renewal Backed by Strong Numbers

A Different World, a revival and sequel to the 1987-1993 NBC sitcom of the same name, premiered on Netflix on 24 September 2026, exactly 39 years to the day after the original series first aired. The show performed strongly out of the gate, debuting at number four on Netflix’s Global Top 10 English TV list, drawing 4.2 million views and 23 million hours watched in its first four days, and reaching the Top 10 in 15 countries. In the United States specifically, it ranked second among Netflix television shows for the week of 21-27 September.

That early momentum was enough to secure a fast renewal, with Netflix confirming Season 2 just over a week after the show’s debut.
