Music Composed by Pritam

Music has always been the heart and soul of the Aashiqui franchise, and this time is no different. The film’s music is being composed by Pritam, a long-time collaborator of Anurag Basu. Pritam has a history of delivering chartbusters, and fans are eagerly waiting to see what he has in store for this film.

Talking about the film, Pritam shared:

“The Aashiqui franchise has always been about love and timeless music. I feel privileged to be working on this beautiful journey.”

Title Dispute and Legal Battle

Aashiqui 3 was initially supposed to be co-produced by Bhushan Kumar and Mukesh Bhatt. Mukesh Bhatt, who produced the first two Aashiqui films, was originally involved in this installment as well. However, in March 2024, Bhushan Kumar announced that he would be producing the film alone.

There were talks about renaming the film Tu Aashiqui Hai, but reports suggest Kartik Aaryan was keen on keeping it as part of the Aashiqui franchise. In September 2024, Mukesh Bhatt took legal action over the title, leading to a ruling by the Delhi High Court in his favor. The court prohibited T-Series from using the name Aashiqui in the title.

According to an ABP report, the court order stated:

“There were discussions between the parties for a third installment of the Aashiqui franchise, which was also jointly announced to the public. Further, they highlight that the Defendant (T-Series) has already promoted a public narrative suggesting that their upcoming film is the third installment of the Aashiqui franchise.

This perception is further reinforced by the Defendant’s (T-Series) application to register the title ‘Tu Hi Aashiqui’. In these circumstances, the Plaintiff (Mukesh Bhatt) contends that confusion is inevitable and the Defendant (T-Series) should be restrained from using the term ‘Aashiqui’ in the title of its proposed film, as it risks misleading the public into believing that the new film is part of the Aashiqui franchise, thereby violating the Plaintiff’s rights in the Aashiqui brand.”

As of now, the term Aashiqui cannot be used in the title of the upcoming film, as per the court order. However, the makers are still allowed to use the songs from the previous two Aashiqui films since T-Series holds the rights to the music. According to sources from Hindustan Times, the filmmakers are trying to reach a compromise with the Bhatts to retain Aashiqui in the title, which has led to delays in the official title announcement.

Produced by T-Series

Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar are backing the project under the T-Series banner, ensuring that the film gets a grand scale and top-notch production quality. With a powerhouse team of filmmakers and musicians, the film is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated movies of the year.

About Aashiqui Franchise

The Aashiqui franchise has always been about love, heartbreak, and unforgettable music. The first film, Aashiqui, released in 1990, was directed by Mahesh Bhatt and starred Rahul Roy and Anu Aggarwal. The film was a massive hit, thanks to its soul-stirring music composed by Nadeem-Shravan. Songs like “Dheere Dheere Se” and “Jaane Jigar Jaaneman” are still remembered fondly by fans.

Following the success of the original, Aashiqui 2 was released in 2013, directed by Mohit Suri. Featuring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles, the film became a cult classic, especially for its heart-wrenching storyline and blockbuster music. The soundtrack, composed by Jeet Gannguli, Mithoon, and Ankit Tiwari, gave fans evergreen hits like “Tum Hi Ho” and “Sunn Raha Hai”.

Now, with the upcoming film, the franchise is all set to continue its legacy with a fresh story and a new musical touch.
