Apple to unveil iPhone SE 4 on February 19: What to Expect

The next-generation iPhone SE announcement was widely anticipated after Apple CEO Tim Cook teased an announcement that was waiting just over the horizon on February 19. The iPhone SE 4 has been in the rumor mill for quite some time, and most of its details are already known.

Speculation abounds that Apple will follow a different naming convention this year and could even refer to the device as the “iPhone 6E” instead. But this claim comes from a source that has not been verified. Since the device has elements in common with the iPhone 16, a new name might help better position it alongside Apple’s flagship lineup.

Apple Set to Announce iPhone SE 4 on February 19: Design, Features, and What to Expect

The iPhone SE 4, design-wise, is expected to be similar to the iPhone 14, complete with a 6.1-inch display. In other words, it’s the last of the smaller iPhones, as Apple transitions to larger screens. Although the first model had a 4.7-inch display, reduced bezels mean the overall increase in physical size is minimal. The new model will also adopt an OLED display, eliminating LCD panels from the iPhone lineup.

Touch ID is being removed entirely from the device, making way for Face ID. It will also ditch the Lightning port for a USB-C one, as Apple continues its movement toward a universal charging standard.

It will support MagSafe magnetic accessories, tapping into Apple’s growing lineup of magnetic attachments. Internally, we can expect the iPhone SE 4 to include the A18 found in this year’s iPhone 16 lineup, providing flagship-level performance at a lower price. It will reportedly come with 8GB of RAM, enabling Apple Intelligence features. Storage is expected to start at 128GB, phasing out the 64GB option.

The rear camera could see a major upgrade to a 48-megapixel sensor, significantly improving photo quality. Additionally, Apple’s first in-house modem will debut with the iPhone SE 4, supporting 6GHz 5G but not mmWave speeds. Apple is likely to introduce the device through a press release rather than a dedicated event. Pre-orders could begin shortly after the February 19 unveiling, with a launch later that month.
