  • 14 cases in Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation

  • 19 patients under 9 years
  • 15 in the 10-19 age group
  • 20 in the 20-29 age group
  • 38 patients distributed across 30-59 age groups
  • 9 patients above 60 years
  • Gender distribution: 68 males, 33 females

Critical Cases and Medical Response

The severity of the outbreak is evident with 16 patients requiring ventilator support, indicating the serious nature of some cases. Health authorities have initiated comprehensive testing protocols:

  • 23 blood samples tested negative for dengue, zika, and chikungunya
  • 11 stool samples analyzed
  • 9 samples positive for norovirus infection
  • 3 samples additionally showed Campylobacter Jejuni bacterial infection

Medical facilities across Pune have mobilized resources to handle the increasing number of cases, with particular attention to areas showing higher concentration of cases, including Sinhagad Road, Khadakwasla, Dhayari, and Kirkatwadi.

Health authorities are taking multiple approaches to understand and contain the outbreak:

  • Water sample collection from various parts of Pune for chemical and biological analysis
  • Central health team deployment for situation assessment
