Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta has announced an exciting new feature that allows users to share their WhatsApp status directly with Facebook and Instagram Stories. Soon, people will also be able to connect WhatsApp to Meta’s Accounts Center, making it easier to update things across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. As per Meta, users will be able to easily reshare their WhatsApp Status updates across Facebook and Instagram Stories as well as use single sign-on for quick access to their WhatsApp accounts.

WhatsApp Status Updates Can Now Be Shared Instantly on Facebook and Instagram Stories—Here’s What to Know
“We’re thrilled to introduce the option to add WhatsApp to Accounts Center in the coming months. While this feature is optional and turned off by default, it’s designed for those who want a more integrated experience across apps,” the company shared in a blog post. Meta stressed that this feature would ease cross-platform updates, to avoid posting multiple times.
They will also now have more granular controls for what they share, for example, the ability to turn off status updates if cross-posting them to Instagram Stories or Facebook is enabled. All sharing settings can be managed directly from the Accounts Center, ensuring a customized user experience.
While integration of WhatsApp with Accounts Center makes sharing content easier, it also opens up new opportunities, including single sign-on, which will allow for seamless logins across Meta apps. The updates will make the app more convenient to use without sacrificing the app’s main principles of privacy.
Meta stressed that personal messages and calls will remain protected by end-to-end encryption so that not even Meta or WhatsApp — not to mention other governments — can access them. The content of private chats and calls will be kept secure and separate from accounts linked in the Accounts Center, ensuring that user privacy is maintained.
The best part of this is that it is entirely optional and disabled by default — users can turn on this feature via app settings on iOS and Android. Meta also announced plans to expand Accounts Center functionalities, including tools to manage avatars, Meta AI stickers, and creative features like Imagine Me, all accessible through a unified interface.
