War 2, featuring Hrithik Roshan, Kiara Advani, and Jr NTR, is among the most eagerly awaited films of 2025. However, the blockbuster is set to face tough competition as it goes head-to-head with another major release.

Hrithik Roshan is set to make a grand return to the big screen with War 2, three years after his last release. A sequel to the 2019 blockbuster War, which starred Tiger Shroff and Vaani Kapoor, the upcoming spy thriller is directed by Ayan Mukerji. While the storyline remains tightly under wraps, it’s confirmed that Kiara Advani and Jr. NTR have joined the cast, with the RRR star taking on a formidable negative role.

War 2 to Face a Massive Box Office Clash?

Exciting updates suggest that War 2 might clash with another major release in 2025. According to reports, the Hrithik Roshan-led film is eyeing the coveted August 15 weekend for its release, the same date reportedly considered by Sunny Deol’s Lahore 1947. Produced by Aamir Khan, Lahore 1947 is a period drama celebrating India’s independence, making the Independence Day weekend an ideal choice. A source revealed to Bollywood Hungama, “Lahore: 1947 aligns perfectly with the spirit of Independence Day, and the makers are likely to announce the release date soon.”

Adding more excitement to the Independence Day week, Rajinikanth’s Coolie is also slated for release. Interestingly, Aamir Khan, apart from producing Lahore 1947, will have cameos in both Sunny Deol’s historical drama and Rajinikanth’s Tamil action thriller, setting the stage for an epic box-office showdown.

Meanwhile, War 2 is a key installment in YRF’s SPY Universe, which already includes the Tiger and Pathaan franchises. The universe is also expanding with the upcoming film Alpha, featuring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, set to release in December 2025. With War 2 promising high-octane action and intense storytelling, the competition at the box office is bound to be thrilling.
