Han Boxiao, the product manager at Vivo Communication Technology Co., Ltd., has provided a sneak peek of the design for the upcoming compact flagship, the Vivo X200 Pro Mini prior to its official release. Today, he also teased the standard version of the Vivo X200 series.
The Upcoming Vivo X200
To recall, the X200 series includes phones like Vivo X200, X200 Pro, X200 Pro Mini, and X200 Ultra. The Vivo X200 Ultra is expected to be released later this year in the latter half and earlier in 2025. The standard Vivo X200 gets a splash-color process as well which is the flawed English term to describe those reflected waves on top of its textured back cover. This design element appears to shift depending on the viewing angle.
Vivo has experimented with some really unique back panel designs in the past. Some examples include the Vivo Y100 with “Color Changing” technology where a different color or design on the rear panel shows up when sunlight or UV light shines on it. A company representative described the new finish as, “Sometimes it looks like a stormy sea, other times it shines like silk in the sun, and occasionally it sparkles like a dew-covered gemstone after rain.”
While the imaging hardware then isn’t anything remarkable, Vivo says the news here is where those cameras are positioned, which it claims makes for the cleanest and most uninterrupted display on any of its devices. A finish like this is a debut on Vivo’s X series and a rarity even among flagship phones.
The X200 features a flatter design with less rounded edges and flat sides, in contrast to the previously revealed X200 Pro Mini, which has completely flat sides. The base model also includes a circular camera island with a triple-camera setup and a ZEISS logo in the center. Previous rumors suggest that the camera system consists of a 50MP IMX921 main sensor, a 50MP Samsung JN1 ultrawide lens, and a 50MP 70mm (3x) periscope telephoto lens.
Internally, the X200 runs on the Dimensity 9400 chipset, has 16GB of RAM and is powered by a 5,500mAh battery, a notable upgrade from the 5,000mAh battery found in the Vivo X100. Vivo has already scheduled a product launch event in Beijing for October 14.
