With this knock, Kamindu now boasts an average of 80.90, second only to the legendary Sir Don Bradman’s iconic mark of 99.94 among batters with at least 10 innings. A score of 50 or more in the second innings would place Kamindu alongside Sunil Gavaskar for the most 50+ scores (nine) in the first seven Tests.

After coming in at 69-2 when Angelo Mathews retired hurt, Kamindu built crucial partnerships, including a 72-run stand with the returning Mathews and 103 with Kusal Mendis, who added 50 runs. Kamindu was eventually dismissed in the day’s penultimate over, caught off Ajaz Patel.

Kamindu’s recent form has been exceptional, with centuries and big scores against Bangladesh and England, marking him as a rising star in the cricket world.
