Toni Kroos retired from football at the end of the 23-24 season. While his club career ended in fairytale fashion, winning the Champions League with Real Madrid at Wembley Stadium, his national team career culminated in heartbreak.

While representing Germany at Euro 2024, the midfielder was eliminated by eventual winners Spain in extra time in the semifinal. The defeat in front of his home fans made it even more bittersweet for the legend. However, he has continued to stay connected with football.

Toni Kroos establishes academy in Madrid after retirement

The veteran midfielder has continued to stay in Madrid after hanging up his boots as a professional footballer. He has decided to turn his attention to his Toni Kroos Academy, aimed at developing grassroots football in the Spanish capital.

Kroos has already coached in Germany, and was spotted running a training camp less than 48 hours after the Euro 2024 exit in Cologne. Now, he is set to commit to the academy in Madrid and help in develop future stars.

He follows the likes of Oliver Kahn and Ronaldinho to start their own grassroots academies in foreign countries, to encourage youngsters to develop their skills from a young age.

Will Toni Kroos become a coach?

He hasn’t indicated he will manage a senior team.
