Double iSmart Trailer: The highly anticipated trailer for Double iSmart, Puri Jagannadh’s sequel to his 2019 hit ‘iSmart Shankar,’ was released on Sunday. The trailer has stirred up a lot of buzz on the internet, with various reactions from fans. Let’s delve into what the trailer reveals and how the audience has responded.

The trailer, which is 2 minutes and 42 seconds long, picks up from where ‘iSmart Shankar’ left off. Ram Pothineni returns as the titular character, now with a chip embedded in his brain that allows memories to be transferred. Sanjay Dutt joins the cast as Big Bull, bringing a new layer of complexity to the story.

The trailer also features scenes with Puri’s favourite comedian, Ali. These scenes appear somewhat out of place and add a touch of humour to the otherwise intense trailer. How these comedic elements will blend with the main narrative remains to be seen.

Ram Pothineni’s Role

Ram Pothineni’s character continues to be as bold and brash as ever. The trailer shows him in various high-octane scenes, hinting at a thrilling continuation of his previous adventures. However, his character also retains some of the problematic traits from the first film, such as his misogynistic behavior. He refers to his new love interest, played by Kavya Thapar, as “bomma” (doll) and displays a leering attitude towards her.

Sanjay Dutt’s Character

Sanjay Dutt’s character, Big Bull, is introduced with a significant impact. He is on a quest for immortality and believes that memory transfer is the key to achieving it. Alongside him is Bani J, his sidekick, both of whom are searching for Ram. This sets up a tense and intriguing conflict that promises to drive the plot forward.

Mixed Reactions from Fans

The trailer has elicited mixed reactions from fans. Some are excited and hopeful, calling it a potential blockbuster and a comeback for both Puri Jagannadh and Ram Pothineni. However, others are less impressed. One fan commented:

“Trailer kuda full gaa chudalante bhayam vesindhi. Enka entha sepuraa Ani felling vachhindhi eka movie chudalane alochona (I couldn’t even complete the trailer. It stretched too long.)”

Several fans have poked fun at specific scenes from the trailer, particularly one where Ram and Sanjay Dutt’s characters have guns in their pants. This scene has been a source of amusement and criticism alike. One disappointed fan expressed doubt about Puri’s comeback:

“I believe there’s no comeback of Puri. With this cinema he will be done and dusted. He Reshoot the first part again and rebranded it as Double ISmart. Sadly they call it PAN INDIA. DISASTER !!!!”

Another fan shared their mixed feelings:

“I’m equally disgusted and intrigued by Double Ismart.”

Double iSmart comes at a crucial time for both Puri Jagannadh and Ram Pothineni. Their recent films, Liger and Skanda, did not perform well at the box office. This sequel is seen as an opportunity for redemption. Produced by Puri Jagannadh and Charmme Kaur, “Double iSmart” is set to release in theaters on August 15. It will be available in multiple languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.

Box Office Clash

Interestingly, Double iSmart will be clashing with Harish Shankar’s ‘Mr. Bachchan,’ starring Ravi Teja, at the box office. This sets up an exciting competition and could influence the success of both films.
