As to the most recent report from ITHome, the iPhone 16 series “iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max” are compatible with 20W MagSafe wireless charging and 40W wired charging. The current iPhone 15 Pro models allow up to 27W wired and 15W wireless MagSafe charging, so this is a significant improvement.

This seemed a little odd considering that the iPhone 14 Plus boasted the largest iPhone battery ever at the time, with a 4325mAh capacity that somewhat surpassed the 4323 capacity of the iPhone 14 Pro Max battery. This year, the 4441mAh battery capacity of the iPhone 15 Pro Max outperformed the 4383mAh capacity of the battery powering the iPhone 15 Plus.

It should be noted that the 40W and 20W charging speeds are possible maximum values and might not be sustained continuously. The iPhones’ charging times should be significantly reduced if this significant boost is real. Since Android phones offer a notable 120W wired and 50W wireless charging speed in comparison, users have been quite concerned about charging speeds and times.

According to a rumor by ITHome (Chinese), the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max would feature 20W wireless charging via MagSafe and 40W wired charging. It would be a significant upgrade over the iPhone 15 series if this rumor proves to be accurate.

Included with the iPhone 15 series was a USB Type-C port. With a suitable USB Type-C charger, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro can both charge at up to 27W peak power. Up to 15W wireless charging is supported by authorized third-party sellers and Apple-approved MagSafe chargers. According to Apple, all iPhone 15 models may get a 50% charge in less than 30 minutes when using a power adapter of 20W or above.

The precise charging speeds indicated in previous rumors are also mentioned in these latest ones. According to this, stacked battery technology, which enables larger capacities and longer lifespans, would also be used in future iPhone models.
