Kei Nishikori was run ragged by Novak Djokovic in their US Open semi-final on Friday. He was overwhelmed by the Serbian’s aggression and energy.
Novak Djokovic is through to the final! Djokovic defeated Kei Nishikori by 6-3, 6-4, 6-2. It was a brilliant shot to seal the match! Scrambling to get to the corner, Djokovic stretched and hitted a backhand which landed beyond his opponent and inside the line. The two-time champion will now face Juan Martin Del Potro in the final on Sunday.
Djokovic needed just two hours and 23 minutes to record a 6-3,6-4,6-2 victory at Flushing Meadows. Nishikori came off second best in every department.
Djokovic breaked Nishikori once again and with the match all but done, fans had started to stream out of Arthur Ashe in a bid to beat the traffic. But Djokovic didn’t care as he roared and punched the air after getting the break.
The 31-year-old, who was making his 11th successive appearance in the last-four, has now won 25 of his last 27 matches, an impressive run that includes titles at Wimbledon and the Cincinnati Masters.
“I think I was just tired from last couple matches. I was (trying) to give 100 percent, but he was playing very solid. ” Nishikori said. “Maybe if he wasn’t Novak, I might have (a) chance to play little better. ” he further added.
