One of the most expected launches this year in the two-wheeler segment is the Bajaj CNG bike, which Bajaj may call the ‘Bruzer’ among other trademarked names it has filed over the last year. Rajiv Bajaj, MD of Bajaj Group, will be the host of the launch event, where Nitin Gadkari, Minister for Road Transport and Highways, will officially announce the launch of the bike.
The Upcoming Bajaj CNG Bike
Bajaj CNG bike world’s first mass-produced CNG-petrol motorcycle Customers can seamlessly move between these two fuels as and when they need. Schematics revealed that the CNG tank is embedded inside the motorcycle for added safety and durability through rough terrains and has a low leak risk in no-road conditions.
It will pack a conventional, volume-size petrol tank. Exactly how much CNG the tank will hold has not been revealed yet, but it’s expected to be around 2-3 kgs, since larger tanks would be difficult to fit in a motorcycle’s frame, and also make the motorcycle heavier, which might pose an added risk in case the tank leaks.
The Bajaj CNG bike is expected to offer very low running costs Although the differences in mileage may not be much, CNG is in general cheaper than petrol all over the country. Here, let’s say CNG prices are around ₹75 per kg in Delhi while petrol is close to ₹95 per litre and we assume kmpl to be more or less the same the saving is around ₹20 per litre. These savings add up, particularly over months and years, which can provide drivers with significant benefits if they drive daily. Moreover, CNG is environmentally friendly due to lower emissions compared to petrol.
To ensure performance equivalent to entry-level 100cc-110cc commuter motorcycles, the Bajaj CNG bike will likely feature a higher capacity engine, possibly around 125cc. Bajaj already utilizes 125cc engines in models like the CT 125X and Pulsar 125 range, indicating potential tweaks to accommodate the dual fuel system of CNG and petrol.
