Thibaut Courtois has suffered a meniscus injury, and will be out for the remainder of the season. The Belgian was expected to return to the starting line-up after the Match international break fixtures, completing his recovery from an ACL injury that has kept him out all season. But now, it seems certain that he will not be available for any matches this season.Â
While it is certainly a huge loss for Madrid, they have been boosted by Andriy Lunin’s rise as the starting goalkeeper. And the Ukrainian will likely be playing regularly till the end of the season.

Los Blancos had also signed Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea on a straight loan deal in the summer to bolster their goalkeeper position. And after playing in the initial phase of the season, Kepa has been dropped to the bench, with Lunin given preference by Carlo Ancelotti.
The Ukrainian has been very impressive, and has helped Real Madrid remain at the top of the LaLiga table while also qualifying for the quarter finals of the Champions League.
The Belgian national team, however, will miss Thibaut Courtois for the Euros this summer. He is one of the most important members of their squad, and another goalkeeper will have to step up while he recovers from his latest setback.
