Giovanni Reyna is on Nottingham Forest’s radar for a transfer in the January window. The USMNT international has not had regular game time this season, making only two starts, with 11 more appearances coming from the bench. A move to the Premier League would be on an initial loan deal with the option to make it permanent in the long run.

An agreement has not yet been reached between the two clubs, but there is optimism that the deal could be finalised in the coming days. The player is keen to get regular game time, and could do so if he makes the move to Forest now.

Giovanni Reyna in talks over Nottingham Forest transfer

Reyna’s contract with Dortmund runs until 2025, and he signed with Jorge Mendes’ agency, Gestifute, in December. As a result, there is growing optimism that he could be set for a transfer away and a permanent move in the summer since he will only have one year left on his contract.

The attackers made the move to Germany from the New York City academy in 2019, and broke into the first team a year later. After becoming a regular in the line-up over the past few seasons amidst struggles with injury, he has fallen out of favour with Edin Terzic this campaign.

And to salvage his career, Giovanni Reyna could be set for a spell with the Tricky Trees. They are currently 16th in the Premier League and are facing a possible points deduction after breaching the profit and sustainability rules.
