East Bengal FC could be set for a new signing in January, with 34-year-old forward Iago Falque set to join the club soon. The veteran has played for a number of top clubs, including Villarreal, Tottenham, Roma and Torino. He featured for the Giallorossi between 2015 and 2017, also participating in the Champions League with them.

Owing to his extensive experience in Europe, he could prove to be a huge signing for the Red and Gold club. But his injury record is a real concern for fans, after he missed the entirety of last season with a serious injury.

The winger was playing in the Colombian first division with America de Cali, before his injury. In the last four years, the Spaniard has missed over 65 games which will be a cause for concern.

However, if he can stay fit, he will become one of the most high profile players to feature in the ISL in recent years. Several rumours have suggested that the forward is close to signing a contract, with an official announcement pending.

It will also be interesting to see whether Iago Falque has been signed for the rest of the 23/24 season, or just the Kalinga Super Cup this month, which will allow six foreigners to play as part of the squad.
