In spite of all the uncertainty surrounding his future, Thomas Muller is now set to stay at Bayern Munich. The veteran has reportedly agreed to a new deal that will keep him in Munich until 2025. His previous contract was set to run out in the summer, and would have allowed him to leave as a free agent.
And there were rumours that he could hang up his boots or join another club, should he not renew with Bayern. But Muller has put those links to rest after finalising a new contract in spite of his decreasing time on the pitch.
Thomas Muller to sign new contract with Bayern Munich until 2025
Thomas Tuchel spoke directly with the veteran to ensure that he stayed, since he is still considered an important part of the team. His composure and ability to lead the counter press is unparalleled, and Bayern look much more composed when he is leading from the front.
However, with the arrival of Harry Kane, his minutes have started to reduce significantly. The main reason behind this is the strong similarity between the two forwards and their approach to the game.
Being unable to field them both together, Tuchel has been forced to choose Harry Kane owing to his outstanding goal output. And even though Muller has been restricted to a substitute on multiple occasions, his contributions don’t go unnoticed.
With Thomas Muller extending his stay at Bayern till 2025, this might be the final extension for the 34-year-old, who still plays like someone a decade younger.
