Enthusiast Citizen, known for previously revealing benchmarks of Intel’s Core i5-14600, continues to share leaks, this time featuring two additional processors: the Core i5-14400 and the Core i3-14100. According to the leaker, Intel is set to officially launch these chips on January 8th, shortly after their CES 2024 announcement. On the same day, these processors will be made available in retail outlets, accompanied by budget-friendly motherboards.

The Upcoming Intel 14th Gen Core i5 and i3

Delving into the specifications of the leaked chips, the Intel Core i5-14400 stands out as a 10-core SKU, comprising 6 P-cores and 4 E-cores, yielding 16 threads. With a base clock of 2.5 GHz, a boost clock of 4.7 GHz, 20 MB of L3 cache, 9.5 MB of L2 cache, and a 65W TDP, it is positioned as a versatile option.

On the other hand, the Intel Core i3-14100 emerges as an entry-level SKU, sporting 4 P-cores and 8 threads. Equipped with 12 MB of L3 cache, 5 MB of L2 cache, a base clock of 3.5 GHz, a boost clock of 4.7 GHz, and a 65W TDP, it caters to the needs of users seeking budget-friendly alternatives. Both chips are expected to be competitively priced, mirroring their 13th Gen counterparts, with the i5 variant around $221 US and the i3 variant at $109 US.

Benchmark tests conducted using CPU-z and Cinebench R23, along with stress tests employing the AIDA64 “CPU FPU” test, revealed notable details. The Intel Core i3-14100 achieved a maximum all-core boost clock of 4.5 GHz at 68.75W, while the Core i5-14400 reached a maximum all-core boost of 4.10 GHz (3.5 GHz E-Core) at an 84.75W TDP. Despite a modest 200 MHz increase in clock speed, the performance improvement appears marginal. However, given that the pricing aligns with their 13th Gen counterparts, the value proposition remains favorable, unless the 13th Gen chips are priced more competitively.

Looking ahead, Intel’s 14th Gen Non-K lineup is poised to compete with AMD’s latest additions to the AM4 and AM5 family, specifically targeting the budget segment. AMD introduces new Ryzen 5000 chips, including X3D parts expected to maintain a solid lead over the 14th Gen Non-K CPUs in gaming performance. Additionally, the Ryzen 8000G APU family, featuring impressive Zen 4 performance coupled with RDNA 3 graphics, is set to elevate the competition further.
