Acer Vero 16 laptop is here to commit to Carbon Neutrality: All You Need to Know
Acer, a global leader in the tech and hardware industry, has announced its dedication to achieving carbon neutrality for its Aspire Vero laptop series, starting with the new Aspire Vero 16 (AV16-51P). The company’s approach to carbon neutrality adheres to international standards for calculating and neutralising carbon footprints. Acer is taking measures at every stage of the device’s lifecycle to reduce its environmental impact, with the application of high-quality carbon credits to achieve neutrality.
Jerry Kao, COO at Acer Inc., spoke about the company’s commitment to addressing climate change. “Our product line reflects a ‘conscious technology’ philosophy, designed and created with a focus on the future,” he said. “On the corporate front, Acer has joined the RE100 initiative, aiming to use 100% renewable electricity by 2035. We are also committed to reaching net-zero emissions by 2050.”
Acer Commits to Carbon Neutrality for Acer Vero 16 laptop
The Acer Vero laptops have always been designed with environmental considerations in mind, to minimize their carbon footprint throughout their lifecycle. Every aspect, from manufacturing and packaging to end-of-life recycling, has been scrutinised and improved to reduce emissions.
The latest model, the Acer Vero 16 (AV16-51P), features several advancements:
- The laptop’s chassis is constructed from over 60% recycled plastic, an increase from the 30% used in the first generation. The surface does not contain volatile organic compounds, paint, or additives, and the touchpad incorporates ocean-bound plastic.
- The device comes equipped with the latest power-efficient Intel® Core™ Ultra processors. The new integrated neural processing unit (NPU) provides AI capabilities with exceptional power efficiency.
- Efforts have been made to reduce the carbon footprint of packaging by recycling scrap materials produced during manufacturing and utilizing 100% recyclable packaging. The 100% recycled FSC-certified paper box can be easily repurposed.
- Acer has collaborated with logistics providers to decrease emissions from standard sea containers by using biofuel on numerous routes.
- Acer’s proprietary AcerSense™ battery management software prioritizes energy efficiency with four performance modes: Eco+, Eco, Balanced, and Performance.
- The laptop is designed for easy disassembly to facilitate repair, upgrade, or recycling, using standard screws.
After these emission reduction measures are implemented, Acer plans to use high-quality carbon credits to achieve carbon neutrality.
