Following their 1-0 win over Genoa, AC Milan have included Olivier Giroud in the goalkeepers section of their website. The striker put on the gloves in the final minutes of the game, after Mike Maignan was shown a red card for a brash challenge on Caleb Ekupan.
With Stefano Pioli out of substitutions, Giroud had to play as the goalkeeper for the final few minutes of the game with a one-goal lead to defend. And the veteran made a crucial save, charging out to punch the ball away and keep a clean sheet for his side.

In honour of his remarkable performance to help AC Milan earn all three points and climb to the top of the Serie A table, the club are also selling “Giroud 9” goalkeeper shirts to commemorate the special occasion.
Olivier Giroud is France’s all-time top goalscorer, and has been ever-reliable since joining the club from Chelsea. He revealed that he enjoyed playing as a goalkeeper when he was young in the post-match interview, which is why he didn’t hesitate to step in goal when the situation called for it.
With Mike Maignan suspended, Milan will have to turn to their reserve goalkeepers in Marco Sportiello or Antonio Mirante after the international break.
