Disney’s ‘Once Upon a Studio’ Trailer Celebrates 100 Years of Stories and 100 Years of Magic Following its world premiere at the Annecy Film Festival in June, Walt Disney Animation Studios released the official trailer for Once Upon a Studio today. The highly predicted short film will make its broadcast debut on Sunday, October 15, as part of ABC’s The Wonderful World of Disney: Disney’s 100th Anniversary Celebration!, hosted by Kelly Ripa.
In Once Upon a Studio, an all-star ensemble of adored characters from Walt Animation Studios assembles to take a group photo to honor The Walt Company’s 100th Anniversary—manufactured for a joyful, entertaining, and emotional reunion. Featuring 543 characters since more than 85 feature-length and short films, Once Upon a Studio welcomes heroes besides villains, princes and princesses, sidekicks and sorcerers—in all-new hand-drawn and CG animation—to celebrate ten decades of storytelling, artistry, then technological achievements.
Once Upon a Studio is directed by Dan Abraham, then Trent Correy, and produced by Yvett Merino and Bradford Simonsen.
Beginning at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Sunday, October 15, The Wonderful World of Disney: Disney’s 100th Anniversary Celebration! Will high off with an episode of America’s Funniest Home Videos, followed by a lineup that comprises exclusive moments featuring Ripa and sneak peeks of upcoming projects. The unique program will comprise the broadcast premieres of both Once Upon a Studio and the Academy Award®-winning picture Encanto.
There is no better way to kick off a movie night than through one or all of these legendary shorts, followed by one of the many favorite pictures or shows Disney+ has to offer, especially those showcased in the trailer. As a slight refresher, not only is the home of the MCU, Star Wars, and timeless animated features like Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, and The Lion King, but audiences can also get caught up on The Simpsons, immerse themselves in the Avatar franchise, travel to the farthest corners of the world by National Geographic, and get front row seats at concerts for performers like Elton John and BTS.

The festivities have already begun for the House of Mouse to ring in its impressive century in the biz. So far, we know several fresh Funkos are in a rollout that includes favorite characters like Wall-E, Darth Vader, Steamboat Willie, R2-D2, and Lady and the Tramp. Adding to the celebratory fun,it’s critically celebrated animation studio Pixar will give audiences another chance to catch a limited theatrical run of three favorites – Toy Story, The Incredibles, and Coco with tickets for each currently on sale.
