iPhone 15 Pro Max Battery Tests Show Lower Endurance Compared to iPhone 14 Pro Max

The iPhone 15 series recently underwent thorough battery endurance testing, revealing some disappointing outcomes that point to less efficient performance on the chipset front. Surprisingly, the iPhone 15 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro exhibited weaker battery performance compared to their predecessors, despite being equipped with slightly larger batteries.

All About the iPhone 15 Pro Max Battery Backup

Following the lifting of the review embargo for Apple’s latest iPhone 15 series, reviewers have been subjecting the phones to a range of tests. Initial results from CPU and GPU assessments have already surfaced online, and one of the early tests conducted was a battery endurance test, which unfortunately did not cast the iPhone 15 series in a favorable light.

As assessed by Geekerwan, the iPhone 15 Pro Max displayed inferior battery performance when compared to last year’s iPhone 14 Pro Max. The new flagship model managed to run for 7 hours and 13 minutes, while its predecessor, the iPhone 14 Pro Max, lasted 7 hours and 55 minutes on the same test.

A similar trend was observed between the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro. The iPhone 15 Pro exhibited a runtime of 6 hours precisely, whereas its forerunner endured an additional 46 minutes on the same test. It’s worth noting that the iPhone 15 Pro features a marginally larger battery than the iPhone 14 Pro but still registered inferior performance in the test.

These findings align with other tests that indicate Apple‘s new A17 Pro chipset has poorer efficiency metrics compared to the previous A16 Bionic. Interestingly, the iPhone 15 Plus, likely due to its A16 Bionic chipset, performed the best in the test, delivering a battery runtime of 9 hours and 17 minutes. This is more than two hours longer than what the iPhone 15 Pro Max achieved, despite the latter having a 39 mAh larger battery.
