Roma have reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign Romelu Lukaku on a loan deal. The player has landed in Italy and will be undergoing a medical soon. Once he has passed it and completed the formalities, he will be officially revealed as a new signing for the Giallorossi.

The Italian side will pay a loan fee of over €5 million and will also cover his salary of €7.5 million over ten months. There is no buy option included in the deal, which means he will be back at Chelsea next summer once his loan spell expires.

The Blues tried to find buyers for the Belgian but have failed to offload Lukaku permanently. And as a result, they have been forced into another loan move for the striker.

Romelu Lukaku signs for Roma on loan move

Initially, it was expected that Lukaku would return to Inter permanently after spending one season back on loan with them. But, he started negotiating with Juventus at the end of the season in spite of Inter making a €40 million offer to Chelsea to sign him permanently.

Feeling betrayed at his actions, Inter rescinded their offer. Juventus fans also discouraged their club from signing the Belgian, leaving him stuck at Chelsea. He was not to be included in Mauricio Pochettino’s plans this season, and has now been given a lifeline by Jose Mourinho at the Italian capital.

Romelu Lukaku will be expected to fill in for the injured Tammy Abraham, and it will be interesting to see how things pan out under Jose Mourinho for Lukaku a third time.
