The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS) has approved the 15-member Indian esports contingent that will be participating in the Asian Games 2022. This is a groundbreaking achievement for Indian esports, as it will be the first time that the country will be sending a team to compete in the Asian Games as a medal event.
Esports Athletes Recieve Official Approval from Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports For Asian Games 2022
The esports event will be held in Hangzhou, China from September 23 to October 8, 2023. India will be participating in four of the seven titles: DOTA 2, FIFA Online 4, League of Legends, and Street Fighter V: Champion Edition.
The 15-member Indian contingent is as follows:
- FIFA Online 4: Charanjot Singh and Karman Singh
- Street Fighter V: Champion Edition: Mayank Prajapati and Ayan Biswas
- League of Legends: Akshaj Shenoy (captain), Samarth Arvind Trivedi, Mihir Ranjan, Aditya Selvaraj, Aakash Shandilya, and Sanindhya Malik
- DOTA 2: Darshan Bata (captain), Krish Gupta, Abhishek Yadav, Ketan Goyal, and Shubham Goli
The Indian esports team has been training hard for the Asian Games. They recently participated in a seeding event, where they secured good positions. Charanjot Singh topped the seeding event for FIFA Online 4, while India’s League of Legends team went unbeaten.
The Indian esports team is confident that they can make a good showing at the Asian Games. They are determined to bring home medals for India and raise the profile of esports in the country.
