Apple has reportedly experienced significant sales growth in India this year. In Q2 2023, the company’s iPhone shipments in India saw a remarkable year-on-year increase of up to 70%, according to a CyberMedia Research report. Additionally, Apple’s iPad lineup also witnessed an increase in shipments during the same quarter.

The Growth by the help of iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 Series

The boost in sales for Apple in India was driven by the latest iPhone 14 series and the previous-generation iPhone 13 series models. Even the older iPhone 11 series and iPhone 12 series contributed to the company’s success, allowing it to gain a larger share of the premium smartphone segment in the country.

The iPhone 13 series stood out as the most popular series during the quarter, holding the highest market share (52%) among all iPhones sold in India. The iPhone 14 series followed closely, making up 45% of the total iPhones shipped during the quarter. The iPhone 11 series from 2019 and the 2020 iPhone 12 series also added to Apple’s quarterly growth in India.

Apple’s iPad lineup also proved to be a popular choice among Indian consumers. The 9th-generation iPad series dominated with a 42% market share, followed by last year’s iPad 10th-generation series at 22%. The 2022 iPad Air and iPad Pro series held market shares of 18% and 16%, respectively.

Based on the research, CMR expects Apple to maintain strong growth momentum throughout the second half of 2023. The iPhones are predicted to capture about 7% of the total smartphone market share in India, while the iPad will have around 25% of the market share.

Looking ahead, the upcoming iPhone 15 series is anticipated to offer numerous upgrades over its predecessors, including a new 48MP primary camera and a transition away from the notch in favour of a pill-shaped and hole-punch cutout design for the Dynamic Island.
