As per the reports at Fox Soccer, Lionel Messi is ready to become the 5th highest paid Athlete per year in the United States. His salary will just be lower than one of the four NBA stars, and it’ll be greater than every single player in the NFL and MLB.
Let’s see who are all there on the list ahead of Messi to be the most-paid athlete in the USA.
Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker and Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl Anthony Towns will be the highest-paid sportsmen per year. Each of them earns $56.1 million. Next on the list is Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic and Golden State Warriors’ four-time NBA Champion Stephen Curry earning $54.5 million and $53.8 million, respectively.
In fifth place, there is Lionel Messi with an expected yearly salary of $53.7 million.
A new destination for the Argentine star
Besides Al-Hilal’s offer, the star forward was also expected to return to his former club, Barcelona. Fans had high hopes regarding the same, which were ultimately crushed by his decision to join David Beckham’s Inter Miami.
