Last December, Redmi, a sub-brand of Xiaomi, introduced the Redmi 12C, powered by the Helio G85 processor. Now, the company is preparing to launch the standard version, the Redmi 12, which is anticipated to be unveiled soon.
Although the Chinese brand has not officially announced the exact release date for the Redmi 12, an inadvertent disclosure occurred when the smartphone was mistakenly listed on the official website of its Portuguese division. This listing provided valuable information about the device’s specifications, design, and price.
All About the Redmi 12!
Although the listing has since been removed, an insight into the features of the Redmi 12 were captured through the vigilance of Twitter user and the reporting of the German blog WinFuture. According to their findings, the Redmi 12 will boast a sizable 6.79-inch Full HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate.
The screen will feature a centrally placed punch-hole cutout to accommodate the 8-megapixel front-facing camera. On the rear, the smartphone will house a triple camera setup, including a 50-megapixel primary lens, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 2-megapixel macro/depth sensor.
Under the hood, the Redmi 12 will be powered by a MediaTek Helio G88 chipset, paired with either 4GB or 8GB of RAM. Storage options will range from 128GB to 256GB, with the possibility of expansion up to a massive 1TB via a microSD card. The device will be equipped with a substantial 5,000mAh battery, charged through a USB-C port at a maximum speed of 18W (as opposed to the previously rumored 33W charging support).
Furthermore, the Redmi 12 will offer several notable features, including an IP53 rating for water and dust resistance, NFC capabilities, an IR blaster for remote control functionality, and Bluetooth 5.3 for seamless wireless connectivity. With a thickness of 8.17mm and a weight of 198.5g, the smartphone will be reasonably compact.
Additionally, the Redmi 12 will be available in at least three color options. While WinFuture suggests a price of €199, the information on Xiaomi Portugal’s website indicates a slightly higher cost of €209.99. However, it is likely that the €199 price tag will apply to the base model, featuring 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.
