Apple to Accept Trade-Ins for New Mac Models on June 5: Speculation Surrounds WWDC 2023 Unveilings

Mark Gurman claims that on June 5, parallel with Apple‘s keynote presentation for the WWDC 2023 conference, the company will start taking trade-ins for three new Mac models. Gurman revealed in a recent tweet that the Mac Studio, 13-inch M2 MacBook Air, and 13-inch M2 MacBook Pro will become eligible for trade-in with Apple starting Monday, June 5. It is widely anticipated that Apple will unveil new Mac hardware during the keynote, with speculation surrounding the introduction of a new 15-inch MacBook Air model.

All About the Apple Accepting Trade-Ins for Mac!

The Mac Studio was initially introduced by the tech giant in May 2022 and offered M1 Max and M1 Ultra chip configurations. Despite the subsequent release of several Macs featuring the M2, M2 Pro, and M2 Max chips, Apple has not yet refreshed the Mac Studio. Gurman suggests that two new Mac Studio models are currently in development, but the timing of their launch remains uncertain.

Gurman previously expressed skepticism about the possibility of an update being announced at WWDC, speculating that the giant might wait until the M3 generation to refresh the Mac Studio in order to avoid cannibalizing sales of the Apple silicon Mac Pro. However, he also acknowledges that updated Mac Studio models featuring M2 Max and M2 Ultra chip options could still be on the table for WWDC.

There have also been rumors about the development of 13-inch MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models with the M3 chip. However, the first M3 Macs are not expected to launch until later in the year, indicating that immediate successors to all the aforementioned devices might not be on the immediate horizon.

While Apple’s acceptance of trade-ins for new Mac models on June 5 suggests upcoming releases, the exact lineup of successor devices remains unclear. The potential introduction of a 15-inch MacBook Air and the uncertainty surrounding the timing of Mac Studio updates contribute to the anticipation surrounding Apple’s WWDC keynote event.
