Barcelona sacked Ernesto Valverde back in January and replaced him by appointing Quique Setien. The former Real Betis coach was expected to teach his philosophy and transform this Barcelona side.
But Setien has failed to do his job as they lost the league title to Real Madrid even after restarting the season with a two points lead.
Setien also doesn’t have a good relationship with the players. He hasn’t been able to control the dressing room.
Now, a widespread report has come out. The report claims that Barcelona captain Lionel Messi wants the Barcelona board to appoint Marcelo Bielsa as the new manager. Bielsa has done a wonderful job with Leeds United. They have returned to the Premier League after 16 years under Bielsa.
The 64-year-old has implemented a dominant, expansive style of play at Leeds United which will be well suited to Barcelona’s philosophy.
Bielsa is an Argentine so he would be quickly able to connect with Messi. He also has experience in LaLiga during his time as Athletic Bilbao coach.
Messi wanted some big changes as Barcelona finished this LaLiga campaign second to Real Madrid. He was unhappy with the way the club is being run. Maybe bringing in Bielsa to replace Setien is the first big change, the little magician wants!
