Barcelona Femeni have placed one foot into the finals of the Women’s Champions League, defeating Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge. The only goal of the game was scored early on by Caroline Graham Hansen.
The tie is far from over, with the return leg yet to be played. And considering the quality of players involved on both sides, it is going to be a very unpredictable game when the two meet in Spain.
Barcelona Femeni win UWCL semi-final first leg against Chelsea
The last time the two sides met was in the finals of the Women’s Champions League in 2021. And back then, the tie was over in 36 minutes when Barcelona Femeni scored four goals in the very first half.
However, this time it was a gutsy performance from the London side. They didn’t allow Barcelona to dominate the tie, even though they had 70% of possession in the game. They made some very important blocks in the game, and have kept themselves alive in the tie.
But, Barcelona Femeni are confident that they can get into a third straight UWCL final by defeating Chelsea. They have won all five of their Champions League games played at Camp Nou over the last two seasons. During that time, they have conceded only four goals while scoring 24.
So, if the Blues want to make it to the finals, they will have to pull off a historic feat to make it past one of the best teams in the world.
