Hakan Calhanoglu is only considering a stay at Inter Milan for his future. The midfielder has commented that he is playing his best football with the Nerazzurri this season. Under Simeone Inzaghi, he is being deployed as a regista, and is thriving in the role.
In 23 league appearances this season, the Turkiye international has scored two goals and provided five assists. There were rumours that Premier League clubs like Southampton and Leeds United were trying to sign him. But according to Fabrizio Romano, these rumours are way off the mark.
Hakan Calhanoglu in talks to extend contract with Inter Milan
The board is currently in talks with the player’s entourage for a contract extension. His good form has not gone unrecognised, and Inter Milan want him to continue as part of their team for the future.
“I’m proud that Inter want to extend my contract, and my intention is to stay here,” Calhanoglu said about his contract extension.
The new deal has almost been agreed between Hakan Calhanoglu’s agents and Inter. However, it has not been signed and sealed yet. There is optimism on both ends that it should be complete at the latest by the end of the season.
Inter are currently second in the table, 18 points behind league leaders Napoli. While their title hopes might be over, they are still locked in a battle to qualify for the Champions League. Only three points separate them and fifth-placed Roma ahead of the weekend’s matches.
