Southampton have sacked their head coach, Nathan Jones, after three months in charge. A very poor run of form for the saints since the dismissal of Ralph Hassenhuttl has seen them plunge to the bottom of the table, and they now run a serious risk of being relegated.

Jones has only managed to win one game in charge of the club since November. However, he was able to lead them into the fifth round of the FA Cup and the semi-final of the EFL Cup. But, nothing really changed for them in the Premier League.

Nathan Jones sacked as Southampton manager after three months

“Southampton Football Club can confirm it has parted company with men’s first team manager Nathan Jones. First team coaches Chris Cohen and Alan Sheehan have also left the club,” the club said in a statement.

The last game in charge for Jones was a 2-1 defeat against Wolves, who had ten men. The Midlands club were down to 10-men, but came back from 1-0 down to win 2-1. And as a result, Southampton have remained rooted to the bottom of the table.

Ruben Selles, the lead coach of the first team, has been given the responsibility of leading the training ahead of the match against Chelsea this weekend. And a new head coach will be announced shortly to try and take the club out of the relegation zone.
