NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs will reportedly suffer from Shipment Shortages in Q1 2023

NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 40 GPUs are expected to be in short supply this quarter, while a price cut for the RTX 4080 is possible. According to recent reports, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 GPU lineup, which includes the RTX 4090, RTX 4080, and RTX 4070 Ti, will be in short supply for the rest of the quarter. The shortages could be due to the limited production of these cards during the Chinese New Year.

The RTX 4090 and RTX 4070 Ti had a good initial supply, whereas the RTX 4080 was produced in significantly lower quantities than the flagship GeForce RTX 4090. According to data obtained by TechEpiphany from Germany’s largest retailer, the RTX 4070 Ti, despite its recent release, has been very popular among gamers.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti shipments are in short supply, accounting for only 8% of total shipments.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 is rumoured to be getting a price cut once supply improves. The exact timing of this price cut is unknown, but it’s long overdue given that many similar rumours have surfaced in the past and the card hasn’t been as popular as the other two RTX 40 offerings due to its performance to dollar ratio.

The card is currently $200 US more expensive than the Radeon RX 7900 XTX, which isn’t particularly competitive given that the XTX outperforms it in many games. NVIDIA may reduce it to $1100 or, if they want to be even more competitive, $1000 US, but that remains to be seen.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 series cards will also be updated, with the RTX 3090 and RTX 3080 being delisted, and the RTX 3070 / RTX 3060 card prices being heavily discounted in anticipation of the upcoming RTX 4070 and RTX 4060 graphics cards.
