After serving as the BCCI president for three years, Sourav Ganguly is set to be the Director of Cricket of the Delhi Capitals franchise in the next edition of IPL that starts in April. He will supervise the cricket verticals of the franchise along with ILT20 team Dubai Capitals and SA T230 league side Pretoria Capitals.

“Yes, Sourav will be back with Delhi Capitals from this year. The discussions and modalities are over,”.He has worked with the franchise, shares a good comfort level with owners and if he would have worked in IPL, it would have always been with DC.” – An IPL source said

IPL 2023: Sourav Ganguly is ready to join Delhi Capitals as the Director of Cricket

Earlier, Ganguly has been the metro of the franchise. As per reports, the recent auction held at Kochi had head coach Ricky Ponting and Ganguly’s say.

In the recent auction, DC signed five players including Phil Saltm Rilee Rossouw, experienced players Manish Pandey and Ishant Sharma, and Mukesh Kumar. However, it is still unknown, if Ganguly owns any minority stake in this franchise owned by GMR and JSW Group.

Ganguly’s stint as the BCCI president came to an end after the former World Cup winner and all-rounder Roger Binny was unanimously elected as the president in October 2022.

Ganguly had a rapport with Delhi Capitals management and players. He was under constant presence in the dug-out and was seen lifting Rishabh pant after a match win.

After his tenure as the BCCI president was over, Sourav Ganguly said he would like to do bigger things in life. He also said that he would like to continue as BCCI’s president after attending meetings with the poard before the nominations.

The former Indian captain was offered the role of IPL chairman as well but he didn’t take it up as he didn’t want to lead thr sub-committee of the board.
