Foxconn apologizes for a hiring error that sparked violent demonstrations

Violent protests are taking place in Zhengzhou city, which is home to the largest Apple iPhone manufacturer, which is controlled by Foxconn. On Wednesday, rumors about employees breaking CCTV cameras with sticks began to circulate.

Foxconn Issues for Hiring

Videos also showed industrial workers causing some property damage. Finally, Foxconn has expressed regret for the “technical glitch” in the hiring procedure that resulted in the tense demonstrations.

According to the sources, Foxconn has identified a technical issue with the onboarding procedure and is looking into the situation. An investigation by Foxconn’s staff revealed a technological issue that occurred during the onboarding procedure, the company stated.

Foxconn went on to say that the problem was brought on by a computer system input error. The remuneration will be as promised during the hiring process, as they have guaranteed.

The message went on to say that they were sorry for the computer system’s input error and guaranteed that the actual remuneration would be in line with what was agreed upon and the official recruitment posters. According to the report, most of the protesters had halted. The business asserted that it was attempting to settle the conflict with the smaller gathering of demonstrators at the factory.

Working Conditions in the Factory

During the lockdown, other employees also voiced their displeasure with the factory’s subpar working conditions. Even the possibility of receiving meals while they were under quarantine was uncertain.

More than 2 lakh people work at China’s Zhengzhou facility to produce Apple iPhones. The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models, which are not currently made in India, are also made at this factory. The fact that the plant alone is in charge of 70% of iPhone shipments internationally gives some idea of the size and activities of the facility.

Lockdowns have increased as a result of China’s zero-covid policy and the country’s escalating Covid case count. After the protests started, the government of the nation imposed a lockdown on the city. The public is urged to remain inside.
