Check out the list of 10 new features of the Apple Watch Ultra

On September 8, Apple revealed the new Apple Watch Ultra, a bigger, more sophisticated smartwatch geared toward adventurers, swimmers, and sports. The new Apple Watch Series 8 and the Apple Watch Ultra both have the same features, but there is much more to the watch than meets the eye. Here are only a few of the more salient variations that need mentioning.

Here is the list of new features of the Apple Watch Ultra:

Harsh Operational Temperatures:

The Apple Watch Ultra is very not likely to lose functionality even in the worst climates, unlike iPhones which can get too hot or cold to work. With a working temperature range of -4° to 131° F (-20° to 55° C), according to Apple, the watch has been built to withstand even the harshest outdoor conditions.

Greater Screen Size, More Complex:

For the bigger Apple Watch Ultra display, Apple has developed a brand-new Wayfinder watch face. It has a compass integrated into the dial and can display up to eight complications simultaneously. The Wayfinder watch face can be altered for trips on the mountains, the sea, or the trails.

Personalized Action Button:

The Action button, which is colored “international orange,” is a third physical control on the Apple Watch Ultra’s left side of the screen, adding to the device’s previous two physical buttons.

The Action button may be customized by the user, so depending on your needs, pressing it will allow you to track racing segments during a workout, discover a way out while using Backtrack, drop a Compass Waypoint, or launch a diving computer.

Brighter Screen:

Retina display, the largest yet on an Apple Watch, is hidden beneath the flat sapphire front crystal. It can emit content at up to 2,000 nits, which is two times brighter than any other Apple Watch display.

Night Mode:

When using the Wayfinder watch face in evening situations, a turn of the Digital Crown activates Night Mode, which changes the interface to red and shuts off the retina-altering blue light from the display to reduce strain on your eyes in low light.

Siren for an Emergency:

The 86-decibel siren on the Apple Watch Ultra can be activated by pressing and holding the Action button in case you ever get lost, hurt, or experience another emergency circumstance and need to alert others to your whereabouts.

According to Apple, the siren employs a distinctive sound signature that combines two separate alternating rhythms and can continue for several hours. The siren can be audible up to 600 feet or 180 meters away. The first pattern indicates trouble, while the second imitates the widely recognized SOS signal.

Superior GPS positioning:

A precise dual-frequency GPS used by Apple Watch Ultra incorporates both L1 and the most recent frequency, L5. Trail runners and other sports who frequently find themselves in close proximity to tall structures or densely forested areas should benefit from having the most accurate GPS of any smartwatch available, according to Apple.

Enhanced Compass App:

The Compass now offers three views in watchOS 9 and has been revamped for the Apple Watch Ultra. Turning the Digital Crown provides an extra view that includes latitude, longitude, elevation, and incline, as well as an orienteering view showing Compass Waypoints and Backtrack. The app displays a novel hybrid view that concurrently shows both an analog compass dial and a digital view.

Marking Waypoints and Backtracking:

You can drop a waypoint and mark your current location in the Compass app by pressing the Action button or tapping the Compass Waypoint symbol. By touching the icon, waypoints can be modified, and the Compass Waypoint complication immediately updates in real-time to reflect the waypoint’s direction as well as its approximate distance.

When you are lost or disoriented and need to retrace your steps, you can utilize the new Backtrack tool, which uses GPS to construct a path that acts like a breadcrumb trail to show you where you’ve been.

Water Temperature Sensor & Depth Gauge:

The depth gauges on the Apple Watch Ultra have been approved to EN 13319, a widely accepted standard for dive gear. The new Depth app for the Apple Watch Ultra even features a depth gauge that can show the time, the user’s current depth down to 40 meters, the water temperature, the amount of time spent underwater, and the maximum depth attained.

When submerged, the Apple Watch Ultra automatically launches the Depth app, making it quick and simple to access important data without having to actively launch it. As an alternative, you can link the Depth app to the Action button so that it can be opened whenever necessary.

Pricing and Availability

After the “Far out” event on Sept 8, pre-orders for the $799 Apple Watch Ultra were opened. It comes with three different bands: Trail, Alpine, and Ocean, and has a silver titanium case. Customers will start receiving their Apple Watch Ultra on Friday, September 23.
