Mathys Tel emerged as the silver lining for Bayern Munich in their 2-2 draw against Stuttgart. The youngster broke two records in the game, as he first became the youngest player to start a game for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga – aged 17 years and 136 days.
The Frenchman was deployed on the right side of a 4-2-3-1 and took only 36 minutes to score his first goal for the Bavarians. In doing so, he also became Bayern’s youngest ever goalscorer in the Bundesliga.
Mathys Tel is Bayern’s youngest goalscorer ever
Only ten days ago, when he was handed his debut in the DFB Pokal, he was on target and became the club’s youngest goalscorer across all competitions. And now, he has brought his form to the domestic league as well.
The previous holder of the record, Jamal Musiala, was also on the scoresheet. But, die Roten were unable to kill off their opponents who scored a late penalty to steal a point.
Mathys Tel was signed this summer from Rennes for a sum worth €28.5 million. And considering his age, it was rather surprising for Bayern to spend that kind of money on a player so young. But in his first few games, he is starting to show the world what the board saw in him before they signed him.
