Recently, Kopite7Kimi discussed the potential specifications of NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card on Twitter. The puzzling part of this leak is that NVIDIA is rumoured to have a number of different specifications for the next GPU series.
It was originally rumoured that the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 graphics card would have up to 7680 cores and 12 GB of GDDR6X memory, however, it now appears that NVIDIA is unsure of the exact specifications for the card.
The PG141-SKU340/341 & the PG141-SKU336/337 are NVIDIA’s two boards for the RTX 4070 graphics card, according to the leaker. Both of these boards may support quite different GPU setups and memory requirements.
According to the leaker, the top SKU will still have 7680 cores, 12 GB of GDDR6X memory operating at 21 Gbps through a 192-bit bus interface, and a TBP of 285W. With only 7168 cores, 10 GB of GDDR6X operating at 21 Gbps across a 160-bit interface, and a TBP of 250W, the alternative SKU is a little more conservative.
It is stated that the RTX 4070 series graphics cards can use either of these configurations, but based on the specifications if NVIDIA were to use a lower-end configuration for the RTX 4070, the higher-end variant might be adopted by the RTX 4070 Ti. If not, the RTX 4070 Ti might end up choosing the AD103 route.
Additionally, AMD is facing stiff competition from NVIDIA as AMD prepares to launch its new Radeon RX 7000 series later this year.
But it also begs the issue of whether the business is having trouble coming out with a graphics card that will be as consistent as or better than AMD in terms of visuals and performance.
While still completing the premium Ti versions that will follow, NVIDIA will be able to produce regular RTX 40 series GPUs. The business must concentrate on releasing a useful card that will satisfy customers with performance and cost.
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 series will be priced between $499 and $599 US in the high-end segment, while the RTX 4060 will be priced between $300 and 450 US in the mainstream segment. The RTX 4090 and RTX 4080, as well as the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 graphics cards, are anticipated to be unveiled at GTC 2022, however, the RTX 4070’s release isn’t anticipated until late 2022.
